Hi, I'm Valerie Brehm. I'm very pleased
to be working with The Doggie Diva in
providing excellent care for the animals
in our community. Pet-sitting, dog
walking, special needs animal handling,
obedience training and problem solving
are among the services that I offer in
Saint Petersburg and the surrounding
areas.

Growing up with dogs
as our family pets
inspired me to work
with animals through
the years. I
have also
volunteered at
animal shelters -
for over five years
I've been with the
SPCA Tampa Bay. I'm
a Canine Counselor,
Family Dog Trainer,
Foster Parent, Web
Photographer,
Mentor and a member
of the Education and
Community Outreach
Committee. I'm one
of the leaders of
the Dudes & Dogs
program - we bring
shelter dogs to the
Hillsborough County
Juvenile Justice
Center and
teach the resident
boys how to train
dogs in basic
obedience. In
addition to learning
new skills, the
boys learn
compassion and
respect for
animals, thereby
benefiting themselves,
the community and
the animals.

I'm also a member of the Bay Area
Disaster Animal Response Team and
participate in caring for and
rehabilitating animal victims of
natural (such as hurricanes or
flooding)and
man-made disasters (such as puppy
mills or hoarding situations).
One of the foster dogs that I
adopted was a puppy born both blind
and deaf. As she grew, I taught her
basic obedience through touch - it's
been a learning experience for both
of us! I spend a lot of my time at
the shelter working with the scared
and shy dogs - it's so wonderful to
help them adapt to the environment,
show their true personalities and
find forever homes.
I am certified by the
American Red Cross in
Animal
First Aid and CPR.
One of my dogs has epilepsy so I
know how to handle that type of
medical situation.

will be well-cared for, comfortable,
safe and happy.
